Re: Share a cuppa?

Go to bed - ferrari brain happening? @ArraDreaming

Whatever happens, happens. Neither you or I hold the future.

I'm going to bed now. I'll see you next time.

Re: Share a cuppa?

Yeah whatever happens except I’ll be unalive by a tree flying through our window and st@bbing me in the throat @tyme

Re: Share a cuppa?

You will probably read about it in the news tomorrow

Re: Share a cuppa?

hello @Shaz51

thanks for tagging me, it is nice to be remembered in what seems a voluminous group.

I worked late Friday night as i do on nights shift at a bakery so Saturdays are a bit of a wasteland for me. I still cannot sleep past the sun, never been able to, does that make me a strange creature of the day instead of those ghoulish night beasts and fiends?

Probably, if so could someone offer me a name for the beast so I can self-describe properly.

Cheers and enjoy your cuppa

Re: Share a cuppa?

How are you @Alittleorange ?

Re: Share a cuppa?

@tyme

A little rundown, I work nights part-time in a small business and people have been having holidays recently requiring others of us to fill in.

There are some advantages to working in a smaller business and many of my years work, about 40 in total, were spent in large corporations. However for leave, rostering and really work/life balance they can be quite challenging.

How is your work/life balance @tyme ?

cheers

Re: Share a cuppa?

Hey @Alittleorange ,

My work/life balance is an unusual one. At one stage, I had 5 jobs.

The thing with me is that I love work so I don't see it as work. I don't have my own children or partner to come home to as I live alone so 'working' is very very fulfilling. I find it more fulfilling than socialising as I really find social situations stressful.

Does that make sense?

I'm in a fortunate place where I'm quite liberal with money so I can get what I fancy and just be comfortable.

So I can't say I have much of a work/life balance, yet this is what works for me for now. And I'm open to that changing in the future.

Work gives me stability, routine, accountability.. it keeps me well. And yes, I've got work in a large corporate organisation, medium as well as being a sole trader. I'm also working on a research paper at the moment. I know it sounds like a lot, but this is what I find fulfilling.

Even tonight, being on the forums, I don't count it as 'work'. It is my downtime and I look forward to it every week.

So yeah... that's a LONG winded story.

I think it's about doing what works for you, and if it doesn't work, then seek to make changes.

Re: Share a cuppa?

@tyme

Long-winded?

Bully for you, you should be on 60 minutes. There, to me, seems to be an attitude shift to work and I don't think it is necessarily good. You just expounded some of its virtues.

If you do not mind me prying, what are you researching and is at for an academic forum?

cheers
