Been to see the surgeon today. Three of the wounds are healing well and now only need to be covered when I am doing something (housework, outside, etc.) The fourth site is not healing as well but it was the deepest and is at the base of my thumb so there is a lot of movement. I need to keep dressing that one but can now do it myself rather than having to go to the community nurse every second day. I also see my GP Thursday s she can check it too. At this stage I do not need to go back to the surgeon unless it starts to hurt or swell again ...and if I keep it clean, covered and minimal use for the next week or so then that should heal more also.
I take Cat back to the vet this afternoon. She still has swelling under part of her operation site and some redness in one section so that is not healing as well as it should be. She is not herself either - still eating okay but not as active as she usually is nor spending as much time outside so very much hoping there is no infection and the vet can drain more of the built up liquid under her skin to make her more comfortable. We are going to have to have that difficult conversation this afternoon about where we go from here. I do not want to put her through anymore operations and she is not a cat that will tolerate being at the vet for treatment unless sedated - and that is always a risk - so our options may be limited. Not looking forward to dealing with this but I also need to think of her and giving her the best quality of life possible for how ever long that can be achieved.
Have some tough decisions to make after my pdoc appointment yesterday as well but need to deal with Cat first.
