I just got a phone call from my psychologist's office. I mentioned on Friday that my psychologist had wanted me to let her know the results of my biopsy's when they came through on Thursday. So I emailed her on Friday, knowing she was not expected back until Wednesday this week. Although I did not hear from her at the time, she had clearly gone and made an appointment for me for this week. Her receptionist just rang to inform me that I now have an appointment at 9am this Wednesay. I'm grateful for the opportunity to 'unpack' a few things ... emotions, thoughts, feelings. Unfortunately this will be my 10th MHCP psych visit for the calendar year. I note that the budget announced last Tuesday increased the MHCP visits from 10 up to 20. Does anyone know if this applies to all states or just VIC? And when does it come into being? In other words, will I be eligible to receive any more medicare funded sessions for the remainer of this year? I've done a google search, but cannot find anything.

I just googled.
http://servicesaustralia.gov.au
It says if under "help with costs" If you are impacted by covid you may be eligible for a further 10 visits but does ot specifiy - there is a link to click on how to find out if you are,
hope that helps x

Thanks @Former-Member @Anastasia ... I had a look at those links, but none of them refer to the announcements made under the Budget from last Tuesday. Those links all refer to earlier announcements relating to Coronavirus affected areas specifically. Perhaps the additional 10 medicare funded MHCP visits are only for those in lockdown areas, and only for a short period. Not an ongoing thing at all. Thats disappointing.

Hi @Emelia8 . I am in NSW and my psychologists emailed their clients to say that we could access them. You need another review of your mental health plan with your GP before you can get the additional 10 sessions. It started on Oct 9th and runs until 30 June 2022 at this stage.

Oh thank you @Molliex .. that sounds more promising. So its not just lockdown or second wave areas at all.
I only just had a MHCP redone only a few weeks ago. I suppose I'm going to need another one in that case.
Hopefully my psych will be able to elaborate further when I see her on Wednesday.
Thanks 🙏💞😊

Hey @Emelia8 my understanding is they are extending it nationally under the new budget announcements, but to confirm, I reckon your Psych could affirm this! 🙂
